Contemplative Retreat

September 23-25 (Friday-Sunday)

The analogy is given of a person walking in a river. If they continue moving, the water is stirred up and they cannot see through it clearly. But when they are still, the silt settles and they can see. Thus it is with the busy, frantic pace that we keep. We move so quickly that our souls remain stirred up and chaotic. We need time to be still with our God in order to see clearly. This retreat is a gift to yourself. It is a weekend devoted to being still and knowing that God is God and that we are not. The retreat will offer instruction in various contemplative practices as well as the rich opportunity of spending time with our creator.

Jackie is a licensed marriage and family therapist, an associate professor of spiritual formation with a background in marriage and family therapy, as well as national and international experience speaking on topics of contemplative prayer, spiritual formation, and mental health.

“I have been on the contemplative journey all of my life, but was exposed to the treasure of contemplative traditions fifteen years ago. Since that time, my life has been devoted to helping others experience an intimate relationship with God through the contemplative prayer forms and in silence and solitude. I moved from the joy of the field of marriage and family therapy to my current role with ICS in teaching spiritual formation and directing spiritual retreats. It is an honor to get to walk alongside you as together we listen to God”
