Retreat on Flourishing Over Forty
June 9-12 (Thursday-Sunday)
How can we flourish over forty? How can the second half of life be even more meaningful and fruitful than the first half? Life is not a downward trajectory from youth until death. Rather, God has granted us with seasons of life, each bringing its own challenges and opportunities. Just as the seasons of the year, each is accompanied by its own unique beauty. It is possible to flourish as we move through these seasons, discovering more of God’s grace and living life to the fullest.
In order to “flourish over forty,” we need to be aware of the opportunities and challenges that we face as we grow to maturity. This retreat will feature a unique conversation between Dr. Dan Blazer and Dr. Mark Roberts that will include retreat participants. We look forward to interdisciplinary conversation that speaks to the real challenges and opportunities of our lives after forty. Dan and Mark pray that everyone at this retreat will receive new insights and a fresh vision for living more fully and fruitfully. They plan on addressing the following topics: The Seasons and Stages of Life, Midlife Crisis: Myth or Reality?, Career and Calling, Ingredients for Successful Aging, and A Vision for Flourishing Over Forty.
This retreat will be enriched by the unique piano playing of Dr. David Tolley. One of Laity Lodge’s all-time favorites, David plays with joyful exuberance. We are delighted to welcome his musical leadership for this retreat. We will also be inspired to create by artist Debbie Taylor. She will be our artistic guide for the weekend, assisting us in painting at the Cody Center Art Studios.
