What better way to observe the passing of one year and welcome another, than by celebrating with good friends at Laity Lodge? For this year’s New Year’s retreat, we are inviting beloved Wheaton College professor and C. S. Lewis expert Jerry Root to guide us through the intellect and imagination of perhaps the most important Christian writer of the past century—C.S. Lewis. You may or may not be familiar with his writings, but Jerry Root will present Lewis in such a way that promises to inspire and challenge. We’ve also invited New York-based actor, Christopher Domig, to help visually interpret the words of Lewis throughout the entire weekend. We look forward to celebrating New Year’s with you!
Born and raised in Southern California, Jerry pastored three different churches for a total of twenty-three years, investing most of his time in the student ministry and then going on to serve as a senior pastor. He has been a student of C.S. Lewis for 41 years and has taught courses on Lewis for 31 years. Jerry’s publications on C.S. Lewis include The Quotable C.S. Lewis, C.S. Lewis and a Problem of Evil, and more. Click here to learn more about Jerry.
Christopher Domig
Chris was born and raised in Salzburg, Austria, speaking German and English fluently. He moved to Chicago to pursue further studies, earning a B.A. in Psychology, Philosophy, and Theater at Wheaton College, Illinois. He received his M.F.A. in Acting from Southern Methodist University. He received the Outstanding Actor Award-FringeNYC for the English World Premiere of Dirt by Robert Schneider in New York.
An adoring fan of C.S. Lewis, Christopher was mentored by Dr. Root who encouraged him to choose an author to consider during his life’s journey. This lead him to Frederick Buechner, who continues as Christopher’s ongoing inspiration. Learn more about Christopher on his site.
