Driving Directions

Follow Interstate 10 to Texas Highway 41 (Exit 490). Continue West
on 41 approximately 23 miles to the intersection of US Highway 83.
Travel South on 83 about 15 miles to the H. E. Butt Foundation Camp
gate, located on the left side of the road. A sign reading “Foundation
Camps” on the right side of the road will alert you of the turn. Turn
left and pass through the gate and continue travelling about 1.5 miles
down a steep hill to the river road. We use the river as our road, as it
has a limestone bottom and the water is only a few inches deep. Turn
left into the river and remain on the left side of the markers. While
driving in the river, do not cross the stone markers. Go about 1/3
mile to the Laity Lodge sign and turn left out of the river. Follow the
main road almost a mile to the parking lot. Come down the path to
the office for registration, and someone will be there to greet you.

From San Antonio

(Approximately 2 hours travel time)
The nearest commercial airport is in San Antonio.

Northwest via Interstate 10

Take Interstate 10 west and go 18 miles past Kerrville.
Take EXIT 490 (Hwy. 41, Mountain Home, Rocksprings).
Turn left on Hwy. 41—go to the intersection with Hwy. 83 (about 22 miles).
Turn left on Hwy. 83—go south about 15 miles to the Foundation Camp entrance (on left).

Southwest via Highway 90

Take Hwy. 90 west through Hondo to Sabinal.
Follow signs to Garner State Park via Hwy. 127 and 83, through Leakey and 12 miles north of Leakey on Hwy. 83 to the Foundation Camp sign  (on right) marking the camp entrance, 1/2 mile north of the roadside picnic area.

From Austin

(Approximately 3 hours travel time)

Take Hwy. 290 through Johnson City to Fredericksburg.
Turn left in Fredericksburg at Hwy. 16 south toward Kerrville.
At Kerrville, take Interstate 10 west 18 miles to EXIT 490.
Turn left on Hwy. 41—go to the intersection with Hwy. 83 (about 22 miles).
Turn left on Hwy. 83—go south about 15 miles to the Foundation Camp entrance (on left).
