Contemplative Retreat with Lauren Winner

There is a pattern in the Christian life, one that was evident in the life of Jesus and throughout church history, of Christians periodically stepping away from the everyday to devote themselves to nothing more and nothing less than quiet time with God. This contemplative retreat is designed to promote just such a time.

Each morning Lauren Winner will introduce a new “mode” of prayer before sending guests out to spend the morning alone, praying, and listening. Optional afternoon workshops will demonstrate creative ways to practice the discipline of prayer, ranging from praying the scriptures to doodling prayer. Or, since it’s June in Texas, you may decide to spend the afternoon jumping into the Frio River.

Lauren once suggested that Laity Lodge was made for this kind of retreat, and we tend to agree. This is a Thursday through Sunday retreat with an intentionally spacious agenda.
