Worship Leaders’ Retreat
The Laity Lodge Worship Leaders’ Retreat, in partnership with Worship Team Training, is a chance for worship leaders to be refreshed and renewed so that they might serve God and their people with new vision and vitality. The retreat features engaging worship, biblical teaching that addresses the yearning of our hearts, warm conversation, delicious food, playful recreation, and the stunning beauty of Laity Lodge. The retreat schedule allows each participant plenty of time for rest, quiet, conversation, and prayer.
The primary teacher for this retreat will be Mark Roberts, Senior Director of Laity Lodge. Mark’s theme is: “Living Water for Thirsty Leaders.” By focusing on biblical passages that explain God’s living water, especially John 4 and 7, Mark will help us both understand and drink deeply of this water.
Worship at this retreat will be led by Rita Springer. Joining Rita in worship leadership and Mark in teaching will be Branon Dempsey, the CEO and founder of Worship Team Training. Branon has devoted his life and considerable talents to helping the people of God worship in spirit and in truth. He is especially committed to helping worship leaders thrive by growing musically, theologically, and spiritually. We’re pleased to team up with Branon once again this year.
Mark is the Senior Advisor and Theologian in Residence for Foundations for Laity Renewal. Before moving to Texas, he was the Senior Pastor of Irvine Presbyterian Church in Southern California. Mark has written extensively on worship as a regular columnist for Worship Leader magazine and as a blogger at Patheos. He has taught graduate courses in worship for Fuller Seminary and the Southern California Worship Institute (where Branon Dempsey was one of his students). Mark has a passion for worship and for helping worship leaders be renewed through the truth and love of God.
Branon is the CEO and founder of Worship Team Training, a ministry providing workshops and online resources for local worship ministries. A worship leader, teacher, author and songwriter, Branon is called to lead worship teams, leaders, and artists in becoming authentic leaders of worship and followers of Jesus Christ, serving 40+ churches per year in providing live workshops and online resources. Branon holds an MDiv. in Worship Art Studies and Evangelism from Hope International University, a Bachelor of Music in Composition and Performance by University of Houston, and has been formally trained by Maranatha! Music and mentored by worship leader artists of Integrity Music. Branon is an Instructor/Speaker at Christian Musician Summit and Columnist for Worship Musician Magazine.
Rita is a powerfully gifted songwriter and worship leader with a passion for helping people love, experience, and offer themselves to the Lord. Her motto is “To make the Lord famous in whatever I do with my worship and relationship with Him.” Through her eight worship albums, her writing and speaking, Rita is living out her motto each day. We’re thrilled to welcome her to Laity Lodge for the first time.
