A late summer retreat experiment: have a set of disposable cameras on hand and invite guests to borrow one to chronicle their own experience of a day at Laity Lodge.

The results suggest something of how we remember retreats. They reveal moments, unexpected details, faces, and a whole lot of the Frio River (it was late July, after all).

Hazy, often underexposed, and slightly out of focus, these images feel like summer at the Lodge.

Thanks to all the citizen-photographers who made these pictures!
