Sam Wedelich, an illustrator from New York, attended her first Laity Lodge retreat at the end of the summer (Vocation, Motherhood, and Artmaking). Uncertain of what she had gotten herself into, Sam took advantage of the in-room notepad to process the sweep of her experience—from apprehensions and uncertainties, to observations of Hill Country flora, to successfully standing up on a paddle board, to finding her way into a new community of friends. It’s an intimate, delightfully-illustrated peek into one person’s Laity Lodge adventure. We hope, with Sam, that this “sharing of a magical, but totally subjective, experience might have something for you, wherever you are and whatever you need right now.”
