To pray in the way Jesus taught us—to pray the Lord’s Prayer—is to share in the life and mutual self-giving of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. In this retreat, we’ll explore the form, content, and purpose of this prayer—which turns out to be nothing less than exploring what it means to know God.

From there, we’ll address some general themes that arise when we’re saying our other prayers: should we really be saying the Lord’s Prayer regularly? (John Milton thought we shouldn’t!); the place of set prayers as opposed to extemporaneous ones; and Simone Weil on prayer and attention.

Please join us in following these health and safety guidelines to ensure that a generous spirit of hospitality defines every Laity Lodge retreat.

Plan to arrive at Laity Lodge anytime after 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 22. The retreat will officially commence with a 6:00 p.m. reception at the Great Hall and will conclude Sunday, July 25. Click here for directions and more info on how to prepare for your visit.
