Living Within the Limits of Creation

This retreat will begin with Adam Neder considering the goodness of limits—that is, the goodness of embracing our lives as finite creatures—through everyday topics like attention, distraction, and minimalism. All of this rooted in the self-limitation of God in Christ.

Old Testament scholar Ellen Davis will then explore the issues of climate change and ecological protection through the lens of scripture. Beginning in Genesis she will look at the covenant with all flesh— the “assured” stability of the created order; the undoing of that covenant in Jeremiah and Isaiah; and some Psalms that speak of creation care.

Plan to arrive at Laity Lodge anytime after 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 18. The retreat will officially commence with a 6:00 p.m. reception at the Great Hall and will conclude Sunday, June 21. Click here for directions and more info on how to prepare for your visit.
